I recently heard of the passing of 27-year-old actor Anton Yelchin. I was absolutely shocked!! How could this be! So young. So much potential. I could not believe it. Apparently, according to reports, he drove his car up his driveway, exited the vehicle to check his mailbox. It must have been in Neutral because it rolled down the steep incline pinning him up against his privacy fence. A friend of mine over at westislandtowtrucks.com who is very knowledgeable about the mechanics of vehicles saidthat at such a steep incline, the speed at which the vehicle would have backed down the driveway, the fact that it was most likely in neutral with nothing to stop it from coming down at full speed, that combined with the weight of this, now, metal projectile and the height of the rear end of the car most likely hit him like a ton of bricks. He most definitely had the wind blown out of him. If he passed out from the impact, when he finally came to, he most certainly didn’t have the strength or the energy to push this ”Tank” off of him so that he could wiggle himself free from being trapped between it and the security fence. Plus, according to his friends who had found him hours later, the fact that the engine was still running when they found him, there was not only the weight of the car but the torque behind it.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t much chance for him. He most definitely suffered from trauma and internal bleeding and finally succumb to his injuries. So sad. He died alone and probably scared.
This is such a senseless freak accident. My brain can’t even fathom how something like this could have happened. But it did, and now those left behind, friends, family, peers in the film industry, and fans of his works are left behind to mourn his death and make sense of it all.
So let’s pay tribute to Anton Yelchin and to his work as a Hollywood actor. Born March 11th, 1989 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Anton started his premiered acting debut back in 2000 when he was in the movie ”Geppetto” starring Drew Carey. But the movie that I first remember seeing him in was
But the movie that I first remember seeing him in was ”Alpha Dog” back in 2006. This is also where I remember Justin Timberlake coming on the scene adding acting to his repertoire. I loved Anton in this movie and fell in love with the sincerity that transpired through his acting. This movie was quite the rollercoaster of events but the ending was way too sad and traumatic for me to ever watch again. ”Alpha Dog” has left a permanent mark on me and I will forever be scarred by it.
Then I saw him in the Romantic 2011 ”Like Crazy” that showed the struggles of a couple kept apart for years due to Immigration issues. Such a tumultuous story of love, desperation, hope, and despair. He starred alongside Felicity Jones who played her part well as his co-star.
But you probably remember his most recent work in the 2009 ”Star Trek” and 2013 ”Star Trek Into Darkness” where he starred alongside Chris Pine and Zoë Saldana. His next project, had he not been killed two Sundays ago on June 19th, would have been ”Star Trek Beyond”.
I feel such deep sorrow for this loss of a young actor who had so much potential and his whole life ahead of him. He seemed to be a down to earth kind of person for a passion for his work. He will surely be missed.
My heart goes out to anyone who was impacted by him in any way throughout his short-lived life. I extend my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest In Peace Anton.
